Felinity Interview – Tina Closser

Hi and welcome to Team Grimbold! Felinity is set to be the first publication under the Kristell Inkling imprint, and we’re thrilled to have you on board. Tell us about yourself. (Please include links to blogs/sites/Twitter/published works etc)

What inspired your story for Felinity?

When I watch my cats sleep I see that their little tails twitch or they make weird meow-y sounds. I kind of wonder what they could be dreaming about and this was my take on what they are dreaming. I was also inspired by the short story “The Secret Life of Walter Mitty.”

How do you feel about having an illustration accompany your story?

I think it’s great. I’m envious of people who can draw, paint, sculpt, whatever, because I can’t draw a stick figure.

What writing projects are you working on at the moment?

I have a few projects I’m working on now. I really need to focus on one at some point. But I’m working on companion pieces to my “Non-Compliance” series and by working on I mean thinking about it while I’m in the shower. I just completed a short story, “Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea” that’s kind of YA Waterworld story, but in a good way. I have a space opera I’m outlining and planning, and a super hero mom short story I’m trying to whip into a novella. Again, I need to focus.

The most important question – Cats or dogs?

Alpacas J

Inkling Interrogation

1.     What sort of child were you?

Incredibly boring, I seriously I have no interesting stories, because I was so boring and well-behaved.

2. If you could be a superhero, who would you be?

Jean Grey because Wolverine loves her and I love Wolverine. Plus she’s a Level 5 mutant and that’s pretty cool. BTW: I loved Wolverine before Hugh Jackman was chosen to play him. That was just icing on the cake.

3. What’s your earliest memory?

Getting lost in the Kentucky backwoods while hiking with my parents. Have you ever seen Deliverance? Shutter.

 4.   If you could sing one song on the X-Factor, what would it be?

Is that the show with Mulder and Scully? Seriously, no one wants to hear me sing. Although, I have been known to belt out a Rush tune now and again

5. What’s your biggest disappointment?

That I’ll never get to go to outer space

6. If you could enroll in a PhD program, with your tuition paid in full by a mysterious benefactor, what would you study — and why?

Probably astrophysics. That’s what I originally set out to study, but I didn’t think I’d be smart enough to do it. I love physics and astronomy. However, I’ve been told by a few of my PhD friends that if I want to get a PhD that I should kiss my family goodbye, because it’s that time intensive. So I’ll probably just be happy to be right where I am.

 7. Who would play you in a movie of your life?

Hmmm, maybe me, and Adam Baldwin could play Rich, my husband. J

8.    Do you sing in the shower?

See #4 I’m mostly a car singer and not a shower singer. This has resulted in embarrassing moments at stop lights while I’m belting out “Farewell to Kings” and another car pulls up next to me.
