Felinity Interview – Mike Hargreaves

Hi and welcome to Team Grimbold! Felinity is set to be the first publication under the Kristell Inkling imprint, and we’re thrilled to have you on board. Tell us about yourself. (Please include links to blogs/sites/Twitter/published works etc)

What inspired your story for Felinity?

I had the idea of featuring a religious/shamanic ritual and then sought out a mythical feature about cats I could tie it to. I’m pleased with the outcome.

How do you feel about having an illustration accompany your story?

I was very impressed with the illustration. I look forward to seeing it in situation.

What writing projects are you working on at the moment?

I’m posting daily RPG related tweets and working on a number of storylines for tabletop gaming. I have an idea for a vampire story that will either be written out in full or run as a game some time soon.

The most important question – Cats or dogs?

Due to allergies I kinda have to side with dogs. I was intending to own a little black kitten called Harley and a big Old English Sheepdog called Davidson… but now I’m allergic to cats I’m thinking later in life I’ll go for a big black lab called Ducati

Inkling Interrogation

1.    It’s the zombie apocalypse, how do you survive?

By getting Morgan Freeman to narrate my story. It’s a long shot, but it’s the only sure fire way of getting through to the end of the movie.

2.    Who would you like to say sorry to?

I’m not sure I have anyone I need a special chance to apologise to. If you haven’t said sorry already then you didn’t really want to say sorry.

3.    If you could sit down with your 15-year old self, what would you tell him?

I’d probably have a four hour PowerPoint presentation, lots of advice, lots of financial hints, guidelines on how to invest in Magic: The Gathering. But in the end I’d just want him to know it all works out ok.

4.    What is your worst character trait?

I’m a manipulator. But I try to only use my powers for good.

5.    If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you live?

You’re hopefully getting a hint I’m quite content; I’m where I need to be right now.

6.    What do you think of garden gnomes?

They have their uses.

7.    Do you believe in magic?

As a solution to difficulties in life: No
As an expression of experiencing wonder and delight: Yes

8.    What’s your biggest regret?

The times I traded my innocence for experience, but didn’t learn from my mistakes.
